Our very first ART competition!

Hello Spring! (3).jpg

We are so happy to share this new competition with all our followers – as some people will know, we are more than a Yarn store in our real-life incarnation – our physical store, known as The Galloway Gemshop & Outback Yarns is a combination of anything arts/crafts/minerals based!
To celebrate the beginning of spring and encourage people to get out and about in the sunshine (and rain!), our kind friends at Winsor & Newton have contributed an amazing prize of Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolours! This includes a 24 half-pan palette of Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolours, a set of their AMAZING Series 7 Kolinsky Sable brushes and a 10x14in pad of their beautiful new paper (cold pressed).

To enter, please share your Spring themed watercolour work with us online (through Facebook or Instagram), including a work-in-progress photo so that we can be sure that people are not submitting artworks from other artists/breaching copywrite law (how silly is it that we have to even say this, hey!?). The competition is open to UK residents only, and we cannot accept submissions from professional artists.

Winners will be judged by staff in our physical store based on the photographs submitted to us. This will happen on 31st May 2018 and we will announce the winner soon after! As well as the prize of this amazing art set, we will also be offering the chance to display artworks in a special window display in store later in the year (at artist’s discretion).

The full terms and conditions are outlined at the end of this post, but just have a look at some of the work that Carly has been doing, trying out using the Winsor & Newton and Derwent watercolours over the past few months. These are the kinds of images we would like to see coming in from all our talented friend’s around the UK!

Hopefully we can inspire you to participate, share and be rewarded for your work!
